Susie Lee voted for the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” and unleashed more spending and 87,000 additional IRS agents on Americans that cannot afford any more of the reckless policies that have caused a 40-year high in inflation. RELEASE: Becker Opposes HR 5376 And Proposes New Protections For Workers

Susie Lee voted for the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” and unleashed more spending and 87,000 additional IRS agents on Americans that cannot afford any more of the reckless policies that have caused a 40-year high in inflation.
Analysis shows that middle-class Americans will bear the brunt of the IRS audits resulting from 87,000 new hires.
While Susie Lee continues to carry Joe Biden’s water, voting with the President 100% of the time, April Becker is standing up for middle-class Nevadans. Becker is proposing an update to the Taxpayer Bill of Rights.
Decades ago, when Democrats cared about the American worker, former Nevada Senator Harry Reid championed the Taxpayer Bill of Rights because of the protections it offers taxpayers when dealing with the IRS. In Congress, Becker will propose legislation strengthening those protections now that Susie Lee has put taxpayers at risk.
Becker’s proposal strengthens the Taxpayer Bill of Rights by including protections to ensure that the IRS cannot use the taxpayer’s occupation as part of the Discriminant Function System (DIF) or the Unreported Income DIF. These computer programs are used to determine which individuals will be audited.
“As a former waitress, I know that the IRS targets our hardworking service industry members,” said Becker. “These workers mostly live paycheck to paycheck and have to worry about putting food on the table. They shouldn’t also have to worry about an audit from Susie Lee’s new 87,000 IRS agents. Senator Reid, along with Senator Chuck Grassley, led a bipartisan effort to stand up for taxpayers, something that has been lost on the modern Democrat party.”
RELEASE: Susie Lee Continues To Profit From Legislative Action
Jun 29th, 2022
Ethics experts are again questioning Susie Lee’s stock trading after she wrote a water recycling bill that could financially benefit her.
This is not Lee’s first unethical stock move during her time in Congress:
- Lee made favorable trades in January 2020 after members of congress received a coronavirus briefing.
- Lee profited off her push for PPP loans.
- Lee failed to report over 200 personal stock trades, as required by law, which could total to $3.3 million in transactions.
Now, Lee has written legislation that would benefit a company she holds stock in. According to Mother Jones, “Last year, she authored a measure that will make hundreds of millions of dollars available for water recycling projects. But Lee’s interest in this issue appears to be more than simply political. The two-term Democrat also has a portion of her considerable personal wealth invested in a company that stands to benefit from the water recycling legislation she has championed. In March 2020, according to congressional financial disclosures, Lee and her husband—a casino executive—purchased between $1,001 and $15,000 worth of shares in Evoqua Water Technologies, a company that, among other things, contracts with federal and local governments to provide filtration systems and other technologies used in water recycling.”
April Becker released the following statement concerning Lee’s unethical stock activity, “Susie Lee has used her time in office to enrich herself while telling her constituents she will not apologize for her disastrous policies that have led to soaring inflation. Members of Congress must be banned from trading stocks, and Susie should immediately divest her holdings and apologize for this unethical behavior.”
Washington Examiner: Nevada House race poll reveals campaign challenges for Democrats in November
Jun 29th, 2022
A fresh poll showing Rep. Susie Lee (D) trailing Republican challenger April Becker in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District is a crystal-clear example of the violent political crosswinds buffeting President Joe Biden and the Democrats ahead of November’s midterm elections.
Biden would have defeated former President Donald Trump by 6.6 percentage points had the boundaries of this newly configured southern Nevada district been operable in 2020. But among likely voters surveyed June 20-23, the president’s job approval rating was an abysmal 37% — below his 38.9% national average. His slide is making trouble for Lee, first elected to the House in 2018. Lee was losing to Becker 46% to 44% in the poll, even lagging among Hispanics 48% to 42%.
The survey, for the Becker campaign and the National Republican Congressional Committee, was conducted by GOP pollster Dave Sackett. Nine percent of likely voters said they were undecided. The margin of error was 4.9 percentage points.
“Nevada Democrats are facing serious headwinds this year,” said Ryan Erwin, a veteran Republican strategist in the Silver State. “The environment is ripe for Republican upsets.”

Review Journal: Republicans target Southern Nevada to flip Congress
Jun 17th, 2022
Hopes pinned on Becker
Establishment Republicans are most enthusiastic about Becker’s chances to win in Congressional District 3, which has been the true “swing” district in the state. She handily defeated four challengers in her primary to collect an impressive 65 percent of the vote.
“Nevada is a key battleground in the path to taking back the House” said Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., “I look forward to helping April flip this seat.”
…
Becker, who narrowly lost a state Senate race in 2020, called Lee “out-of-touch” with residents suffering economic hardships that Becker said were the result of Democratic policies.
Both candidates have been in general election mode since before the primaries made the matchup official, said J. Miles Coleman, associate editor of the nonpartisan Sabato’s Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia.
“This, to me, seems like the likeliest seat to flip – I’m sure groups on both sides will be investing heavily,” Coleman said.

Washington Examiner: April Becker wins Nevada GOP primary and now aims for Democratic Rep. Susie Lee
Jun 15th, 2022
April Becker has won the Republican primary in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, emerging from a crowded field for a chance to flip the Democratic-held seat.
Becker, a lawyer and small business owner, was the top fundraiser in the field and received high-profile endorsementsfrom the Nevada Republican Party, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, and Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
Becker listed election integrity, solving the homelessness crisis, securing the southern border, and creating jobs as some of her top priorities.
The race is considered a “toss-up” by the Cook Political Report, and the GOP has targeted it as a potential pickup opportunity in its quest to take back the majority in the House.
After redistricting, the district includes the western half of the Las Vegas metropolitan area as well as the southern tip of the state. Rep. Susie Lee, a Democrat, has represented the district since 2019, and the last Republican elected there retired in 2017.

Release: Becker Wins Republican Nomination in NV-03
Jun 14th, 2022
Today, April Becker won the Republican primary in Nevada’s Third Congressional District, securing a decisive victory. Becker released the following statement:
“I am grateful to the Republican voters that have entrusted me to be their nominee to flip District 3 and retire Nancy Pelosi and Susie Lee. With inflation at record highs, gas prices soaring, and Nevadans having a tough time making ends meet, Susie Lee refuses to offer solutions or even acknowledge her role in this disaster. Instead, Susie has told voters that she’s “not going to apologize” for rising prices. This callous, out-of-touch response shows she has no business representing us in Congress.”
Nevada’s Third District has been rated as a toss-up by Sabato’s Crystal Ball, Cook Political Report, and Politico. April has been named a Young Gun by the NRCC and has been endorsed by GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, Congressman Burgess Owens, CLF’s Trailblazers Fund, VIEW PAC, Maggie’s List, Winning For Women, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.
Election Forecasters Move NV-03 To Toss-Up
Apr 20th, 2022
Sabato’s Crystal Ball and Cook Political Report, leading nonpartisan elections forecasters, moved Nevada’s Third District to ‘Toss-up’ status.
“Nevadans are tired of inaction and failed politicians, like Susie Lee,” said April Becker. “We have the momentum behind our campaign and will continue to focus on rising gas prices and record-high inflation, which has been caused by the policies Susie Lee has championed in Congress.”
The positive shift continues the momentum behind April Becker’s candidacy following an endorsement from Leader Kevin McCarthy, CLF’s Trailblazers Fund, and Nevada’s Law Enforcement community.
Axios: House GOP sets its sights on Biden country
Apr 12th, 2022
House Republicans are so confident of snagging easy seats en route to regaining the majority this November, their big-spending outside super PAC is now targeting congressional districts President Biden won by as much as 16 points, Axios has learned.
Driving the news: The Consumer Price Index report being issued at 8:30am ET Tuesday is expected to show annual inflation surging to 8.4% in March — the highest rate since December 1981. With Biden’s approval numbers already languishing in the negatives, Republicans are going for the kill.
- They’ve already seized a lead in generic congressional ballot polling.
Why it matters: In targeting seats the president won in 2020 by an average of 8 points, the Congressional Leadership Fund is putting Democrats on notice it plans to play offense in previously safe Democratic districts.
- The group’s offensive play comes after its Democratic counterpart, the House Majority PAC, reserved advertising time in 51 media markets as it prepares to defend districts in many once-safe Democratic regions.
- The GOP group, which is aligned with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, is sitting on a mountain of cash and reported $93.5 million on hand as of the end of March.
- A CLF endorsement is both a signal it plans to spend serious dollars in a race and a sign to other donors that McCarthy’s team likes what it sees in the candidates.
Between the lines: Republicans are pointing to Biden’s 69% disapproval rating on inflation, according to a new CBS poll, as one of his key political vulnerabilities.
- The White House is braced for the latest CPI report, now as eagerly anticipated as were once jobs reports.
Details: All but one of the seven new “trailblazer” endorsements are in districts that Biden won by 7 points or more.
Democrats themselves re-drew some of the targeted districts with an eye to shoring up their party’s incumbents.
The CLF endorsees:
- Mayra Flores, a respiratory care practitioner, in Texas’ 34th District (Biden +16)
- Tanya Wheeless, an attorney, in Arizona’s 4th District (Biden +10)
- Marc Molinaro, a county executive, in New York’s 19th District (Biden +10)
- Colin Schmitt, a state assemblymember, in New York’s 18th District (Biden +8)
- April Becker, an attorney, in Nevada’s 3rd District (Biden +7)
- Cassy Garcia, a former staffer for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), in the state’s 28th District (Biden +7)
- Jim Bognet, a businessperson, in Pennsylvania’s 8th District (Trump +3)

April is a tireless advocate for her community and will be a tremendous addition to the US House of Representatives. “I am honored to have the support of Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy,” said April Becker. “Leader McCarthy is fighting against the disastrous policies of Speaker Pelosi and President Biden and I’m proud that he’s endorsing me to help in this effort. Together we will rebuild our economy, revitalize our energy industry to lower gas prices, and bring conservative principles back to Washington.”
Nevada Globe: NRCC Ad Targets Rep. Susie Lee For ‘Pain At The Pump’
Mar 12th, 2022
It’s no secret that Republican hopefuls will be weaponizing the sky-high price of gas against incumbent House Democrats. But until now, we didn’t know that the national body whose official mission is to add Republican members would be targeting any Nevada Democrats. Now we know.
Susie Lee (D-Nevada 3) is among the ten Democratic incumbents that the NRCC is targeting with a brutal new spot claiming “Susie Lee and Joe Biden crippled American energy production.”
Per the NRCC: “Since taking power Democrats launched a full-scale war on energy that includes: slow-rolling oil and gas permits, canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline, banning new oil and gas leases on federal lands, halting new federal support for oil and gas projects overseas, and suspending oil drilling leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).”
Leading GOP challenger, April Becker, weighed in: “Nevadans are feeling the effects of Susie Lee and progressive’s radical energy policies. Their Green New Deal seeks to cripple America’s energy production and will only make us rely more on hostile, foreign countries. Energy Independence is the only way to keep our gas prices low and our country safe from the whims of foreign adversaries.”

Nevada Globe: April Becker, Republican Candidate (CD-3) Endorsed by Susan B. Anthony List PAC
Mar 7th, 2022
The Globe received an early scoop that the Susan B. Anthony List’s Candidate Fund PAC will announce its endorsement of April Becker (R) for Congress in Nevada’s 3rd District later this morning.
Per the press release:
“We’re proud to endorse April Becker to represent Nevada’s 3rd District. She has spent her career defending those who cannot defend themselves and will bring tenacity and compassion to the fight for life in Congress,” said Hon. Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s vice president of government affairs. “As a mother and a grandmother, April has seen first-hand the dramatic advances in science and technology that give us a window into the life of unborn children – including their ability to feel pain. Her Democratic opponent Susie Lee sides with Nancy Pelosi and the radical abortion lobby 100% of the time, sponsoring legislation to wipe out popular abortion limits nationwide and enshrine abortion on demand until birth in the law – even refusing to support medical care for babies who survive failed abortions. With so much at stake, southern Nevadans and all women and children deserve better. April’s common sense will be a much-needed check on the pro-abortion extremism running rampant in Washington.”
Becker is a litigator and real estate attorney from the greater Las Vegas area. She and her husband Matt own and operate a number of small businesses in the area and are deeply involved in their community, where Becker serves on the advisory board of the UNLV Libraries and is a member of the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s “100 Hours Club” for her pro-bono legal aid. She and Matt have three children and recently became grandparents.
SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.”
Becker told the Globe: “I’m honored to have the endorsement of Susan B. Anthony List. As a mother, and new grandmother, I know that life is precious and I will fight to protect it.”

Release: Susie Lee Fails Nevada Gaming Community
Mar 7th, 2022
Susie Lee has failed to answer the call for Nevadans again. Last week, the SLOT Act was introduced, a bipartisan piece of legislation that would raise the tax reporting limit for slot machine winnings from $1,200 to $5,000. The single-spin jackpot reporting limit has not been raised since 1977. The SLOT Act received widespread support from the Nevada gaming community.
When asked about this legislation Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV) said, “This creates an unnecessary burden on the gaming industry, an economic driver for Southern Nevada and other communities nationwide where slot machines exist.” When Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA), was questioned on the bill, he stated, “Increasing the threshold will eliminate this onerous red tape, ensuring the gaming industry can continue to support good-paying jobs and foster economic growth in southwestern Pennsylvania and across the country.”
Rep. Mark Amodei (R-NV) co-sponsored this commonsense bill. In fact, the bill was supported by Nevada’s entire Congressional delegation, except Susie Lee.
April Becker commented on Susie Lee’s failure to stand up for Nevada’s most important industry, “Susie Lee claims she’s a moderate, bipartisan problem solver, but when the chance came to help our most important industry — Susie was MIA. It should come as no surprise that Susie Lee is all talk when it comes to bipartisan solutions, given that she votes with Nancy Pelosi 99% of the time.”
LVRJ: Lee claims media coverage ‘begets inflation,’ attacks Biden, hates ‘my local paper’
Jan 7th, 2022
Rep. Susie Lee’s biggest worry about inflation isn’t rising prices. It’s people worrying about it.
“The media coverage on inflation begets inflation,” Lee said this month during a video fundraiser obtained by the Review-Journal. “The biggest worry about inflation is people start to fear inflation. It just is like a snowball effect.”
That sentiment would come as a surprise to families wondering how they’re going to afford groceries, clothing and gasoline this month. They didn’t need a press report to notice that their money isn’t going as far as it used to.
Labor Department economists have noticed, too. The consumer price index is up 6.8 percent over the past year. That’s the highest level in nearly 40 years. They identified price increases as the source of inflation, not the media’s coverage of those prices increases.
Lee blamed higher prices on supply chain disruptions and the fact that “no one was doing anything last year.” She also said Federal Reserve officials are “the people who control inflation.”
Lee is right that the causes of inflation are multifaceted, but President Joe Biden and Congress bear some responsibility. It turns out killing the Keystone Pipeline and paying people not to work weren’t great ways to fight higher prices.
But Lee is unrepentant. “I acknowledge that things are getting expensive, but I’m not going to apologize for it,” she said.

Dec 3rd, 2021
Press Release: Becker’s Statement On Susie Lee’s Build Back Better Vote
Nov 19th, 2021
April Becker, Republican Candidate for Congress NV-03, released the following statement on Susie Lee’s vote for the reckless and socialist Build Back Better bill:
“With Nevadans paying more for food and gas, Susie Lee’s $1.8 trillion plan just added to our inflation problem with more reckless spending that adds $367 billion to our deficit. This bill includes a natural gas tax that will increase the price of home heating costs, electricity rates, and the price you pay at the pump. It gives an $80,000 tax break to millionaires and billionaires. It funds nearly 100,000 new IRS agents that will increase the chances for everyone to face an audit. It will increase our deficit and jeopardize the promises we’ve made to seniors, as it puts a strain on Social Security and Medicare. Susie Lee isn’t helping Nevadans; she’s making our problems worse.”
360 News Las Vegas: April Becker Calls For U.S. To Boycott Olympics In Communist China
Nov 19th, 2021
Recently reported, Chinese tennis star, Peng Shuai, accused a powerful Chinese government official of coercing her into sex, she has since “disappeared.” The Biden administration and Susie Lee have been silent about this and the countless human rights atrocities and genocide inside Communist China that we know about.
CD3 Congressional Candidate (R) April Becker is calling for America to boycott the Olympics in China:
“It is unacceptable for China to have the honor of hosting the Olympics while the Chinese Communist Party commits genocide against the Uyghur people and horrific human rights abuses. Just recently, Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai accused a powerful Chinese government official of coercing her into sex, she has since “disappeared.”
It is unacceptable for China to have the honor of hosting the Olympics while the Chinese Communist Party commits genocide against the Uyghur people and horrific human rights abuses.
I am calling on the Biden administration to mount a complete and total boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics. No athletes, no administration officials, no corporate sponsors.”

NY Post: ‘Majority makers’: Stefanik backs eight GOP women for Congress in ‘22
Nov 10th, 2021
This one’s for the girls.
House Republican Caucus chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) released her first round of 2022 midterm endorsements Wednesday, vowing that GOP women will be “majority makers” next year.
“As small business owners, mothers, veterans, and health care leaders, these women make up the most impressive and diverse group of rising stars we’ve ever seen,” Stefanik told Fox News.
Stefanik backed her former spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt – also a onetime assistant press secretary to former President Donald Trump — to unseat Democrat Chris Pappas in New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district. She also endorsed Afghanistan veteran and lawyer Esther Joy King in the 17th congressional district in Illinois, where the seat is currently held by retiring Democrat Cheri Bustos.
Stefanik, the No. 3 House Republican, also endorsed two Virginia candidates: Jeanine Lawson, running the commonwealth’s 10th district, and Jen Kiggans, who hopes to represent Virginia’s 2nd district.
Next on Stefanik’s list was former Kansas Republican Party chair Amanda Adkins, who is challenging Democrat Sharice Davids in the Sunflower State’s 3rd congressional district.
Stefanik rounded out her endorsements by backing April Becker in Nevada’s 3rd district, Lisa Scheller for Pennsylvania’s 7th district and Monica De La Cruz for Texas’ 15th district.

Wall Street Journal: Worries in Top Suburban Battleground About Democrats’ Spending Show Biden’s Midterm Challenge
Nov 8th, 2021
Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes this economically mixed community of about 320,000 people, was the nation’s most competitive on average over the past three presidential elections. Former President Barack Obama won it by eight-tenths of a point in 2012; former President Donald Trump carried it by one point in 2016; and President Biden won it in 2020 by two-tenths of a point.
Interviews with more than two dozen district voters show feelings are running only lukewarm or quite cold when it comes to Mr. Biden. Residents expressed exhaustion with the coronavirus pandemic, concern about rising prices, worries about illegal immigration and wariness of increased federal spending proposed by Democrats in Washington.
“It scares me because I don’t know where all this money will come from,” said Trung Lam, a 45-year-old limousine driver and Vietnamese immigrant who voted for Mr. Biden. “It’s great to help people, but someone has to pay the bill.”
Narrowly divided suburban districts are expected to play a crucial role in the midterms, contests that traditionally favor the party that doesn’t control the White House. Nevada’s 3rd District encapsulates the headwinds faced by the party that now runs Washington.
Democrats were handed an early warning last week that their recent suburban strength may have waned. In two states Mr. Biden easily won in 2020, the party lost the Virginia governor’s race and the incumbent New Jersey governor only narrowly beat a GOP challenger.
Carol Conslato, a 64-year-old retiree who worked in the utility industry, also expressed concern about federal spending and inflation.
“They are getting way too progressive in spending,” said Ms. Conslato, who backed Mr. Trump in 2020 and considers herself an independent voter. “Everything is already going up in cost, but don’t encourage it with more government spending.”
Democrats are feeling vulnerable in part because Mr. Biden’s approval rating has fallen significantly since the summer. He is at 42% in Gallup polling, lower at this point of his tenure than all but one predecessor going back to Dwight Eisenhower in 1953. Mr. Trump was at 37% in October 2017 ahead of the GOP suffering significant losses in the 2018 midterms.
As both parties prepare for next November, Republicans have history on their side. In post-World War II America, the party controlling the White House has lost, on average, 28 House seats in the first midterm of a new presidency, according to data compiled by the American Presidency Project.
Rep. Susie Lee, the congresswoman for the 3rd District since 2019, is one of 70 House Democrats being targeted by national Republicans. She won the district by three points in 2020, a narrower victory than in her first bid in 2018 amid lower turnout.
Ms. Lee said she expects Mr. Biden’s polling and her party’s midterm prospects will improve if Congress can pass the president’s legislative agenda, including the $1.85 trillion social safety net and green energy package the White House has branded Build Back Better.
“Last night was a blaring siren for Democrats to pass the bipartisan infrastructure package and get this Build Back Better Act across the finish line,” she said in an interview the morning after the elections in Virginia and New Jersey.
William McCurdy II, a Clark County commissioner who recently served as chairman of the state’s Democratic Party, said he also expects the party’s prospects will improve if some of the president’s agenda is passed. Mr. Biden scored a win late last week when the House passed a roughly $1 trillion infrastructure bill that had been approved by the Senate in August.
“You can never go wrong on delivering on the issues that were talked about in the last election,” Mr. McCurdy said. “People are focused on tabletop issues and there is a lot of uncertainty about the future for the next generation.”
A mid-September poll conducted for the Nevada Independent showed nearly even results for Mr. Biden’s favorability among the state’s voters, with 48% viewing him positively and 49% negatively.
While Nevada Democrats who control the process have yet to make public new district boundaries following the 2020 census, political observers in the state expect the 3rd District to remain competitive, even as it sheds some of its growing population to other districts.
“It is still probably going to be a tossup,” said political strategist Zachary Moyle,a former executive director of the Nevada Republican Party. “It’s what a working-class, middle-class America looks like.”
Nevada, which also hosts a key Senate race in 2022, has also been competitive statewide in recent presidential elections. Mr. Biden’s 2.4-percentage-point victory in 2020 was the sixth-slimmest margin in the nation.
While Nevada’s 3rd District has some peculiarities because of its proximity to Las Vegas, which tourists and others often call Sin City, it is still something of a microcosm for the nation. The district is slightly more racially and ethnically diverse than the nation overall.
“We are a melting pot,” said Angela Caruso, a 40-year-old Republican in Henderson. “People come for work, retirement and—once upon a time—because it was affordable.”
The mother of four, who works full time at a plasma center and part time in several other jobs, said she worries about “socialism becoming a reality here” and thinks Mr. Biden went too far in calling for a vaccination mandate for businesses with 100 or more workers.
“Democrats are all about choice for abortion, but they are complete hypocrites when it comes to what goes in your body,” said Ms. Caruso, who nonetheless supports vaccinations to protect against Covid-19.
While the district sprawls across more than 2,800 square miles, its population is heavily concentrated in suburbs south and west of Las Vegas. The geography includes some of the state’s wealthiest communities as well as struggling neighborhoods.
The region was hit especially hard by the pandemic because of its dependence on tourism. As conventioneers and tourists return, unemployment in the Las Vegas metropolitan areahas dropped to 7.4%.
Rick Fimple, a casino worker in his early 50s, said his employer paid his salary even when he didn’t work for close to three months because of lockdowns. After cashing his multiple federal stimulus payments, he said the pandemic was good for his finances.
Retired schoolteacher Wanda Zaccone, believes Mr. Biden has ‘done the best he can.’
Mr. Fimple, an independent voter who backed Mr. Trump and lives about 10 miles southwest of the Strip, couldn’t muster anything positive to say about Mr. Biden. “It doesn’t seem like he’s doing anything,” he said.
Wanda Zaccone, a 74-year-old retired special education teacher, blames Republicans for the lack of legislative accomplishment during Mr. Biden’s time in office. “He came into a huge mess and I think he’s done the best he can,” she said.
April Becker, an attorney who is the top fundraiser so far among potential GOP challengers of Ms. Lee, is already trying to link the incumbent to the liberal U.S. House speaker from the state next door.
“When she’s in Nevada, she’s telling her constituents that she’s moderate,” Ms. Becker said in an interview. “She votes with Nancy Pelosi 99% of the time. That’s just not representative of this district.”
An analysis by the ProPublica news organization shows Ms. Lee has voted with the speaker 98% of the time so far this session of Congress and 99% of the time in the previous session.
Ms. Becker, who is campaigning ahead of a June 14 GOP primary, sometimes travels the district in an ice cream truck that has been converted to a campaign vehicle. She hands out frozen treats as she tries to connect with voters who may be leery of visitors to their door because of the pandemic.
